FAQs
Have more questions?
Do I need a referral to see a Dietitian?
No you do not need a referral from your GP to see a dietitian. You can refer yourself, a family member or be referred by a health care professional.

To book simply use our online booking system or contact us today if you have more questions.
What is the difference between an Initial vs Review?
Initial Consultations are for clients new to Guardian Dietitian.

Review Consultations are for follow up sessions with a Guardian Dietitian.
What will happen in my first appointment?
Your dietitian will chat with you to learn more about your medical history, lifestyle, activity levels, current diet and health goals.

You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, and will be given nutrition education, practical advice and a plan of action when you leave.

If you have a GP referral or any blood test results, please bring these along to your appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on your goals and needs. Your dietitian will inform you in your initial consultation the number of review to support you to achieve your goals.

We recommend a minimum of 2-3 reviews appointments to check in on your progress and tweak your nutrition plan. If you're looking to make long term sustainable dietary changes this will take more appointments.
Will I be given a meal plan?
At Guardian Dietitian we don't believe in one size fits all approach to nutrition. Meal plans are often a short term fix as many of us have different food preferences and dietary needs.
What you will receive is a plan which takes into account your medical conditions, lifestyle and food preferences. If you like a structured approach or just want some ideas your dietitian will work with you to develop a meal guide to help make the changes you desire.
Do you bulk bill?
Guardian Dietitian services are not bulk billed (except for DVA clients).
Clients with a Chronic Disease Management Plan from their GP and are eligible for a Medicare Rebate pay a small gap fee of $40.
How much will my health insurance cover?
Dietetic services may be partially covered by your health insurance provider. For more information refer to the 'Product Fact Sheet' for your health insurance, or contact your provider.

Clients with health insurance are required to pay the full consultation fee on the day of the appointment, and will need to claim with their health insurance provider directly.
Do you see NDIS Participants?
Yes we do! Our dietitians can see self-managed or plan-managed NDIS participants. We can also provide face to face, telehealth or home visit appointments depending on the participants needs.
Do you provide Telehealth consults?
